Legacy Thinking
A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
Legacy thinking changes decision-making because it stretches your horizon beyond this week, this mood, this bill, this platform, this season, and even this lifetime.
Proverbs speaks of inheritance across generations. Legacy is not only money. It includes wisdom, character, habits, faith, culture, speech, stewardship, and the spiritual climate you leave behind. People without legacy thinking often make decisions only based on present convenience. Discernment asks, 'What am I building? What will this choice plant? What patterns am I passing on?' Legacy makes your life larger than survival.
Short-term relief can quietly sabotage long-term inheritance.
You are tempted to make a choice that would feel easier now, but costly later—to your witness, your family, your peace, your finances, your health, or your calling. Legacy thinking slows the impulse.
God is widening your sense of responsibility beyond the pressure of the present moment.

Father, teach me to live beyond the tyranny of the immediate. Help me build what honors You and blesses those who come after me. Deliver me from shortsighted choices and grow legacy-minded faithfulness in me. In Jesus' name, amen.
I will live, choose, and build with legacy in mind.
- What am I currently building with my habits and decisions?
- What pattern must stop with me?
- What inheritance do I most want to leave behind?
Write a short legacy statement beginning, "By God's grace, I want my life to leave behind…"
"This week I learned that discernment deepens when I think beyond the present moment."
