When You Feel Overwhelmed
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Overwhelm is what happens when too many demands are trying to occupy your soul at once. It is not always a sign that you are weak. Sometimes it is a sign that your soul needs order, gentleness, and a different yoke.
Jesus does not shame the weary. He invites them. His rest is not mere inactivity; it is a different way of carrying life. Overwhelm often makes everything feel equally urgent, equally loud, and equally impossible. The first grace of God in those moments is often simplification. Come. Learn. Take My yoke. Rest for the soul begins when you stop carrying responsibilities as if you are God. Christ offers a pace, an order, and a way of bearing that fits human limits.
Not everything demanding access to you deserves access to your soul.
There are tasks, conversations, messages, bills, obligations, unresolved feelings, and unanswered questions stacking inside you. The hardest part is that everything feels important at the same time. That is often when wisdom must separate what is immediate from what is merely loud.
God is not asking you to prove faithfulness by collapsing under a weight He never assigned you to carry alone.

Jesus, I come to You weary and burdened. Teach me Your yoke. Show me what is mine to carry, what must wait, and what must be surrendered. Give rest to my soul and order to my inner world. In Jesus' name, amen.
I do not have to carry everything at once. Christ is teaching me a lighter yoke.
- What currently feels heavier than I can hold?
- What part of that load is not actually mine?
- What would rest-filled wisdom ask me to do first?
Make a three-column page titled: "Do Today," "Schedule Later," and "Release to God." Fill it out before bed tonight.
